Thank you to everyone who attended the Sedos Annual General Meeting last night in the Passmore Edwards room at the St Bride’s Institute. It was fantastic to meet people who were interested in the future of the society and to have the opportunity to reflect on all the great things that have been achieved in 2025/26 as well as looking forward to 2026/27 – we’ve an exciting year ahead!

Sedos enjoyed an exceptional 2025/26 year, delivering seven critically acclaimed productions (five musicals and two plays), returning triumphantly to the Minack Theatre in Cornwall with a sold-out run of The Pirate Queen (3,196 tickets sold) and earning four National Operatic and Dramatic Association (NODA) awards.

Three of our six Bridewell shows (Hairspray, Assassins and Dreamgirls) sold out, while two others (Violet and The Crucible) performed above target. In total, we sold 554 more tickets to Bridewell shows than budgeted in 2025.

The society continued its commitment to welcoming new members – approximately half of cast members in every show are new to Sedos – and broadening representation on and off stage, while strong ticket sales across the season helped generate a major financial turnaround, with an operating surplus of £10,000, plus an increase in the value of our investments of £44,500 (updated from the draft accounts due to revaluation of our investments at the end of 2025).

The good news was also shared that it has recently been confirmed that Sedos is eligible for Theatre Tax Relief – we have received £31,000 for this for 2024 and expect to receive it every year going forwards.

Membership remained strong in 2025/26, new fundraising initiatives were launched and Sedos reinforced its long-term future through investment growth and a renewed commitment to accessibility and sustainability.

Sedos continued strengthening access and future support through its Financial Assistance Scheme, which helped eight members take part during 2025. The society also expanded its fundraising efforts, launching new initiatives including a fundraising committee, a “Support Sedos” hub and a legacy giving programme to support long-term sustainability.

Members had a chance to ask questions about areas such where Sedos’ money is invested, future financial projections, fundraising activities, the potential for Sedos to have a permanent home, the balance of the number of shows we performs and our build space.

The Trustees Annual report gives more information about the society’s activities in 2025/26 and can be read her.

Many thanks to Graham White who stepped down as a Trustee at the AGM after four years of service and to Conor Larkin and George Langdown, who stepped down from the Management Committee during the year - your contribution and hard work is very much appreciated!

We re-elected Matthew Gould as a Sedos Trustee.

Isaac Bartels and Mary Briggs were confirmed as new members of the Management Committee and Paul Caira, Sam Ferguson, Tim Garrad and Emma Miller were re-elected.

We are delighted to announce the new line-up for the 2025/26 year ahead:

Board of Trustees:

Karen Braganza
Nick Dore
Matt Gould (re-appointed)
Adrian Hau (chair of Management Committee, co-opted position)
Pippa Kyle
Eleena Misra KC

Management Committee:

Mary Briggs (elected)

Trustees and members of the Management Committee have staggered terms so everyone does not finish their term simultaneously, hence why some of those listed above are neither re-elected nor new - their terms did not expire at this AGM.

Sedos is run by enthusiastic volunteers and a huge thank you was given to everyone who keeps the society running - from box office and front of house support to backstage and workshop organisers, plus marketing and communications.

If you were unable to attend the 2026 Sedos AGM or want a reminder of the accounts and annual return, you can find those documents here.
